| Okay, so I just told you what I've been up to, but I thought I would give you a short summary of how I got there and what else is going on here. First, sometime in January, I applied for a telemetry position, I showed up to the interview and was informed that position was filled (most likely by one of my recent grad friends now that I think about it) and I was asked about how I felt about working critical care, the thought was both exciting and scary at the same time. I said I wanted to and interviewed and got the job (sadly yes, one interview, one application, talk about carrying my eggs in one basket). I was told a training date in early February and given information on it. On my birthday (1-27) I was celebrating at home, the plan was pizza and a movie, however around 5 we lost power. It was freezing rain and ice outside, we called everywhere and no one had power, we went out and were turned away from on half of town due to a major road being closed. We finally found a Big boy's with power (really any where were we could sit down was our goal) and ate dinner. We hung out at the restaurant till they closed. We went home and walked around the neighborhood some and visited some friends on campus. They offered to let us stay with them but we refused confidant that power would soon return. It was probally one of the worst nights ever, I don't know how my roomie managed to sleep through it all. All night you could hear ice breaking and tree limbs falling, I was terrified of one hitting the house. Our landlord made us all move all cars away from trees, but that didn't protect the house, and naturally it was freezing. The next day we ended up packing ourselves overnight bags and moving into our friends on campus apartments. We were out of power for a week solid. It sucked but we came out ok. I have pictures I posted on facebook, I'll post them here later as well. A week or so later I started my job. It's not as intmitadating as I first thought, still intimadating, but I'm learning alot and adjusting to things as I go.

| Hello, so it's been a really long time since I've written. To give you guys an update, I graduated with my bachelors in nursing in December. I just recently passed my boards. I am working in a critical care unit in a hospital in Lexington. I am currently living in Richmond, and searching for an apartment in Lexington. I like living here and I am enjoying my job. I still feel like I have a lot to learn, but I have learned a lot as well. I've gotten to see a lot so far and learn a lot. Right now I'm on days, but pretty soon I'll be on nights, so my sleep schedule will be very different. I miss everyone from school, I get to see some people still, tonight I hung out with a friends from school, but it's still hard. I miss my girls from nursing and talk to a few of them when I can. I never know when anyone's workings so getting a hold of people can be difficult. Well, how is everyone out there? It's been a while, I know, I need to catch up

| So right now, things are a little crazy here. I have a lot of projects to do, luckily two of them done, but I have an half and hour presentation on Wed.. Nothing seems to be as stressful as the end of the school year. And to add to my stress, I applied to go teach english for a month in the Ukraine during the summer, and I was accepted. I just have to pay for the flight, roughly 1500$, money I don't have. Aside from the money thing I am nervous, I have never traveled out of the country before, and now I'm willing to go somewhere where I don't speak or read the language. I would have to take at train there and I've never been on a train before (a real train, not the one at disney world.) It's all a little daunting and I could really use your prayers. I've been trying to figure out if I really am meant to go, so prayers and support would help. Thanks Tobi | | |
| To catch you guys up more on what is happening I'll tell you about last Tuesday. At my public health clinical (I'm a nursing major with two clinicals a week, one a public health one the other one on a med surg floor), we had a work day where we interviewed the mayor of Winchester. Here is my group with the mayor
Here are some pics from downtown. Some of our girls goofing off. And the Ale 8 factory. For those who don't know what it is, it's a Kentucky drink popular around here. I can best describe it as a gingerale.
Well on Tuesday evening I went down to the BCM hair acution. THere people actioned off the right to have thier hair cut. I went down to see my friend Bob get his hair cut. His wife got the winning bid and chopped off his locks. I ended up going together with friend of mine to cut another friends hair. I'll show pics to show what we did. Bob's before pic Bethany, the winner here.
The "after" picture. Bethany showing her prize, it went to locks of love.
Here we all our. It was Kenny's idea to shave half the head. But on campus our friend was something of a celebrity with people going "did you see the guy with half a head of hair?"
There was a lot of people in this auction. They all had to keep their hiar the way we cut it until Thursday. If you thought we were too kind to my friend Bob, it was because has a job and can't look crazy like everyone else could. | | |
| Hey, so it's been a really long time since I've blogged. I guess I'll fill you in on some things to get you up to date. I'll start with spring break. I went on alternative spring break with EKU to Jacksonville FL. We were due to leave on Saturday morning but with a good deal of snow our trip was delayed till Sunday. The two problems with this being the dorms close on Saturday and our free day was Sunday, so now instead of having a free day we have a 12 hour drive to Florida. We were told our facilities would have dorm style housing so I assumed there would be a couple of bunk beds in a room and we would be separated that way. It ends up that their dorm facilities are closed due to the lack of a fire escape so our facilities were mattresses on a floor, there were 3 other colleges there. So there are 42 girls sharing on room and 23 guys on the stage in that same room. And the bathrooms are not open from 8am - 3:30 pm and there are a whole two showers between the 42 girls. It was a fun week, we did a lot of service projects, got to go a free concert, saw the beach a couple of times and spent have a day in St. Augustine, I wish I had more time in St. Augustine, but over all it was a welcome break from nursing school.
This is what my dorm looked like on Sunday
I was so happy when we finally got to Florida I hugged the first palm tree I saw at the welcome center.
This is the walkway to our living facilities
Here is a view of where we slept, don't you like the cloths line in the background, it was held up by wooden sticks and chairs, and very precariously.
Here's part of my group on our first day of working
A few of us went out to go carting one night. Me at the beach, it was very cold and at night, but I still got in the ocean
Another time at the beach, a few of us went to grab some grub. It was tasty.
This is the concert we went to, the first pic is some friends of mine.
These are some of the places we worked.
These are some pics from St.Augustine
These are some pics of us goofing off in the evenings.
And lastly there's no trip to Florida without seeing some Gators
